Christmas In July!

Indeed, it’s Christmas in July whenever there’s an important update from Pastor Dustin!

In the past week, Dustin has announced that he’s working on a new 5-song Christmas EP, to be released in November. ICYMI, back in 2008, Dustin released his first and, thus far, only Christmas record on Vagrant Records, wherein he recorded the following traditional Christmas “worship” songs:

He also recorded these rare bonus tracks for Please Come Home:

If you follow his Twitter feed, you now know three things about the forthcoming Christmas record on Mars Hill Music:

  1. New recording of his original “This Is War” (my guess is it includes the added “Hallelujah, a Child is born” chorus)
  2. An “instant party” arrangement of “Angels We Have Heard On High” (sounds epic already!)
  3. Which now leaves us with three “others I’ve not recorded…” – meaning, there will be some pleasant surprises!

I am hopeful these previously-unrecorded tracks include even just one of my personal favorites below:

  • “Angels From The Realms Of Glory”
  • “I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day”
  • “Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming”
  • “O Little Town Of Bethlehem”
  • “What Child Is This?”
  • And one that many may not know… Dustin already collaborated with modern hymn-writer Stuart Townend on “Rejoice”, so it would be appropriate if he covered Townend’s Immanuel (From The Squalor Of A Borrowed Stable)”.

Regardless of whatever songs round out the EP, this is now my most highly-anticipated release of the second half of the year!

New Dustin Kensrue Song – REJOICE! (Unofficial Lyrics)

I hope Dustin doesn’t mind my posting this pre-release.  The song is too good to not share!  I’ve probably had this song on repeat more than any other song in my collection since I pre-ordered “The Water And The Blood” on Monday.  Although only 3 minutes long, it is so rich in biblical doxology and theology – almost reads like the call-to-worship Psalms of the OT, interspersed with truth from the Gospels and the Epistles.  So good!

Do yourself a HUGE favor: pre-order any “The Water And The Blood” package (I recommend the one that includes the limited edition poster and notebook), and you will get two (2) tracks: the first single “It’s Not Enough” (official lyrics here) and the opening track “Rejoice”.

Enjoy and God bless!

The Water And The Blood ~ Track 1: “Rejoice”

Words & Music by Dustin Kensrue

STANZA 1
Come and stand before your Maker
Full of wonder, full of fear
Come behold His pow’r and glory
Yet with confidence draw near
For the One who holds the heavens
And commands the stars above
Is the God who bends to bless us
With an unrelenting love

REFRAIN
Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands and raise
Your voice!
He is worthy of all praise!
Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your King,
And with trembling rejoice!

STANZA 2
We are children of the promise
The beloved of the Lord
Won with everlasting kindness
Bought with sacrificial blood
Bringing reconciliation
To a world that longs to know
The affections of a Father
Who will never let them go

REFRAIN
Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands and raise
Your voice!
He is worthy of all praise!
Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your King,
And with trembling rejoice!

STANZA 3
All our sickness, all our sorrows
Jesus carried up the hill
He has walked this path before us
He is walking with us still
Turning tragedy to triumph
Turning agony to praise
There is blessing in the battle
So take heart and stand amazed!

TAG
Rejoice!  When you cry to Him He hears
Your voice; He will wipe away your tears
Rejoice in the midst of suffering
He will help you sing

REFRAIN
Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands and raise
Your voice!
He is worthy of all praise!
Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your King,
And with trembling rejoice!
